A recent project involved upgrading an outdated
central heating system in a residential property in Christchurch for a customer who wanted a more sustainable and efficient heating solution to replace their old open-vented cylinder and gravity-fed setup. After assessing the property’s needs and energy targets, we recommended a complete system overhaul using an air source heat pump (ASHP) and fitting modern radiators. The good news was that we were able to provide this under the
Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS Grant).
We installed a 12kW Ideal HP290 air source heat pump for reliable, energy-efficient heating and hot water. This was paired with an Ideal 250L HP cylinder, ensuring consistent flow and temperature regulation. The system comprised two heating zones: underfloor heating (UFCH) downstairs, and nine upgraded radiators upstairs.
The new configuration not only improves energy efficiency but also enhances comfort throughout the property and future-proofs it, significantly reducing carbon emissions and giving a quiet, low-maintenance heating system. The new setup will produce environmental and financial benefits over time, too. This project shows how a well-planned heat pump installation can completely transform the heating performance of a home while aligning with modern energy standards and environmental goals.
